Sonya began her career as a hypnotherapist in 1994 after completing the Clinical Certification requirements
of the American Board of Hypnotherapy, now based at Pacific University in Hawaii.
Prior to certification, Sonya obtained her bachelor's degree in social work upon graduation
from the fully accreditted School of Social Work at Pembroke State University (now part of the UNC system, ie., The University
of North Carolina at Pembroke.)
Sonya immediately began graduate studies at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She
obtained her master's degree in social work with a specialization in direct practice, mental health.
